The interior of the Thorocare Legwrap (the side next to the horse's skin) is Dupont Coolmax Pique®.

Coolmax Pique was developed by Dupont to draw sweat and moisture away from the source. Since the Coolmax Pique layer is against the horse's skin and sweating is the object, Coolmax Pique was selected for its wicking properties.

The Coolmax Pique layer draws the sweat from the horse's leg and moves it to the outer layers of the Thorocare Legwrap. This results in the horse's leg continuing to sweat and producing a steady flow of moisture (thus accomplishing the objectives of sweating a leg) while remaining warm.

Other traditional methods and materials for sweating a leg loose their thermal properties due to poor wicking abilities. Water is "trapped" against the horse leg. . When the sweat is not moved away from the leg, the build up of moisture can cause “scratches” or irritation to the horse’s skin. This irritation makes the horse less enthusiastic about being wrapped. In cold weather cases, the sweat moisture can even freeze to the horse leg, thus counteracting the sweating process.
